Homemade yeast-free kvass recipe

Домашний квас без дрожжей

Ingredients:

  • Bread – 1/4 loaf
  • Black bread crumbs – 2 handfuls
  • Bread crusts – 2 pieces
  • Raisins – 50 grams
  • Kvass wort – 1 tablespoon
  • Jam – 2-3 tablespoons
  • Sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. First, prepare the starter for the kvass. To do this, crumble black bread into a 500 ml jar, add raisins, pour in warm water, add a tablespoon of sugar, and leave for a few days to ferment.
  2. Once the starter is ready, you can start making the kvass. Pour the starter, black bread crumbs, bread crusts, kvass wort, jam, and cold water into a large container, but do not fill to the top. Leave to ferment.
  3. Drain the kvass through cheesecloth or a fine sieve once every two days. Store the kvass in the refrigerator.

This recipe produces a sour-sweet kvass without yeast. Your homemade yeast-free kvass is ready!
