Banana Caramel Cake Recipe
Ingredients for the cake:
- 1.5 cups of flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 100g of unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 125g of yogurt
Ingredients for the filling:
- 50g of unsalted butter
- 100g of sugar
- 6 bananas
Instructions:
- Sift the flour into a bowl and make a well in the center. Add the melted butter and yogurt into the well. Add the sugar and egg, and knead the dough until it is soft and smooth.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 40-50 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the sugar, and cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it turns into caramel (about 5-6 minutes). Pour the caramel mixture into a cake pan.
- Peel the bananas, cut them lengthwise, and arrange them in a circle on top of the caramel.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and cut it into a circle slightly larger than the diameter of the cake pan.
- Cover the bananas with the dough, tucking in the edges, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the oven, carefully place a plate on top of the cake pan, and invert the cake onto the plate. The bananas should be on top.
- The cake can be topped with chocolate glaze and whipped cream as desired.
