Ingredients for the Green Onion Turnovers recipe:
- 1.5 cups of milk
- 6 tablespoons of sugar
- 30 g of butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1-2 teaspoons of dry yeast
- 2.5 cups of flour
- vegetable oil for frying
For the filling:
- 2-3 bunches of green onions
- 6 boiled eggs
- salt to taste
- vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- In room temperature milk, dissolve a tablespoon of sugar, a pinch of salt, and yeast. Leave the mixture in a warm place for 20 minutes for the fermentation process to start.
- In the meantime, beat softened butter with the remaining sugar and salt. Add lightly beaten egg and mix everything. Then add milk with yeast and mix until smooth.
- Sift flour into a deep bowl and make a well in the center. Pour the prepared mixture into the well and mix everything. Then add vegetable oil and knead until you get a smooth, soft dough. Cover the prepared dough with a linen towel and leave it in a warm place for an hour and a half.
- To make the filling, finely chop the green onions, put them in a deep bowl, add salt, and mix. Then add finely chopped boiled eggs and vegetable oil, and mix everything until smooth.
- Divide the dough into small pieces, roll each piece into a pancake. Put a tablespoon of the prepared filling in the center of each pancake and pinch the edges tightly. Fry the turnovers on both sides until golden brown on highly heated sunflower oil. Then put them on a dish lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.
